How to annotate a mix and leave clear feedback
Vague feedback is the number-one cause of endless mixing back-and-forth. “The chorus lacks punch” says neither where nor what. Here is how to structure feedback so one revision is enough.
Anchor every note in time
Useful feedback is timestamped: “at 1:32 the vocal drops under the snare.” The engineer finds the exact spot without guessing. Annotations placed directly on the waveform remove all ambiguity.
Prioritize and set a status
Separate what blocks approval from a mere opinion. Feedback with a priority and a status (to do, in progress, done) turns a list of comments into a work plan tracked on both sides.
Keep the version history
